Devotional: May 20 – Commit
Read Proverbs 16
Key Verse: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3
This proverb has two key concepts and the first one is commitment. To commit something to the Lord means to both do it His way and trust Him with the results. This means no shortcuts, no compromising, or shrinking back. Complete the task the right way including the timing and details. There is no need to worry, fear, or complain when you truly commit, and it does involve surrender.
The second concept is success. The world defines success in terms of popularity, wealth, awards, and recognition. True success is to glorify God, grow in our faith, bless other people, and be faithful. Jesus was successful while he was beaten, betrayed, crucified, and forsaken. It was extremely painful, but He won salvation for all who would put their trust in Him! Success often means making loving sacrifices on earth to secure a greater purpose and reward. Walk by faith, with commitment and success!
